MARCH 2010
URBAN LEGENDS
MARCH TEACHING
Do you know someone who's seen Bigfoot's tracks? What about Nessie in Loch Ness? Of course, almost every kid has learned that there really are alligators in the sewer. You know how it goes: someone sees something and tells someone who then tells someone else. On and on and on it goes until its hard to separate fact from fiction. This doesn't just happen with alligators and Bigfoot... it happens with spiritual truths as well. Join us as we separate fact from fiction and debunk spiritual myths at 24.7 Wednesday nights in March.

BOOK REVIEWS FOR PARENTS
We are providing a limited number of book reviews for parents of teens and tweens from Focus on the Family. These book reviews cover content, themes and worldview of fiction books, not their literary merit. They are designed to equip parents to decide whether a book is appropriate for their children. A book's inclusion in this list does not constitute an endorsement by Lakeside Fellowship Church.
We hope you find these reviews helpful. New book reviews will be added periodically, so we encourage you to check back regularly if you're looking for information on a particular work.

Foundations: The Life of Christ
Jesus is the central focus and figure of the Bible. The Bible predicts His coming thousands of years before His birth, tells of His life and ministry, recounts His death, details His burial, announces His triumphant resurrection, and shows the remarkable changes in the lives of His followers. Knowing Jesus is the beginning and the end of the Christian faith. Through this yearlong study, your students will come face to face with Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Covering topics like self-esteem, relationships, dating, time management, addictions, and money.

God's Plan for Great Sex
Sex. It's one of the most challenging but important topics in youth ministry. Sometimes it's easy to just tell kids they should wait until marriage, without fully explaining the biblical foundation for sexual purity. God wants us to experience great sex-once we've made the marriage commitment.
This three-week series explores the foundation for the intimate relationship between a husband and a wife, the dangers of going outside the boundaries God has established, and the wonderful grace and forgiveness we can experience if we cross God's boundaries. This may not be the easiest topic for some leaders to facilitate, but it's definitely one that will interest your students-and it's an important one for explaining God's plan for our lives.
Week 1: Why God Created Sex (Genesis 2:18-25)
Week 2: The Risky Side of Sex (1 Corinthians 6:12-20)
Week 3: Forgiveness From God (Colossians 2:13-15)
Sunday Nights @ 6:00 PM

NEXT MONTH: Checkpoints
This series will give every teenager the knowledge and encouragement he or she needs to face the world and remain true to Jesus. In this powerful series, Pastor Joe outlines the seven principles--the irreducible minimum--that teens need to maintain in their lives in order to be victorious in their faith. |
